Serving the altar at Mass as a lector or altar server is a special calling and requires training for each ministry. Some ministries do not require you to be on the alter during Mass but you still serve during Mass such as an usher.
If you feel you are called to serve at the altar during Mass look at the options listed.
Communion Ministers
The Communion Rite is an action of unity. We are invited to the table to eat and drink together. Communion Ministers assist the Pastor and Deacon as the servers of the Paschal Meal. Thus they are “present” to those they serve. Those serving this ministry are selected by the Pastor for a three-year term.
Greeters
Volunteer greeters are on hand at the two primary entrances to the Church for each weekend Mass to welcome all who arrive, especially any guests and newcomers. Duties include: Welcoming the community and providing overall care and hospitality to the church community. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, contact the parish office at 405-722-2110 Extension 110.
Lectors
The history of our faith is an oral history with stories passed on from generation to generation. The Lector ministry continues this tradition of telling others the stories of our faith by presenting the First and Second readings at all Masses celebrated at Epiphany Church. We invite you to join us in relating the wonders of our faith. If you are interested in becoming a Lector, call Tracy Russo, at 405-722-2110 x128 or email.
Servers
Altar servers assist the priest with various details at Mass. Boys and girls who have finished 4th grade and older are eligible to receive altar server training.
We also need Adult Altar Servers to serve at funerals and on Holy Days when our youth are unavailable.
If you are interested in becoming a youth or adult Server, call Tracy Russo, at 405-722-2110 x128 or email.
Ushers
These are the Men, Women, and Youth who make sure everything runs smoothly during Mass.
Duties include: Collecting the offerings; guiding the communion procession; distributing bulletins and assisting with emergencies during Mass.
If you are interested in becoming an usher, call Tracy Russo, at 405-722-2110 x128 or email.
